Mobile information centre for MEE-UGV from Studioman on Vimeo.
MEE-UGV is an organization that offers guidance and gives information to people with disabilities and domestic problems. The information center has two consultants on board and goes to market squares and town centers in and around the region of Utrecht. This way MEE can reach more people that are in need of help, people that do not know about the organization or people that are not able to go to the main office in the city.
We were asked to come up with a concept that fits the organizations needs: a mobile information center that is easily noticed at crowded areas with a system that can be installed at almost any location. The combination of an inviting exterior and a selection of durable materials and products give the information center an extraordinary appearance and makes it a comfortable environment.
Outside there are two consulting posts underneath the parasols where clients can come for a short advice and a cup of coffee or tea. Inside there is a consulting space that provides full privacy and has room for up to four people. The information center is equipped with all the comforts and needs of an office space, from storage for folders and brochures to a coffee machine, a small refrigerator, a water tap and a central heating system. The mobile information center is based on a Volkswagen Crafter van and was assembled by Camperbouw Holland BV.
Most of the facilities are built-in as one unit at the back of the van. This unit is a double sided closet that separates the consulting space from the storage area at the back which is used for storing the exterior objects. Every piece of furniture or equipment has its own holder or place where it can be fixed before the information center moves to the next location. The project was made in collaboration with Jörgen Smit and Niels Schuurmans under the name 'Studioman
